In 2024, Ithaca progressives volunteered week after week, month after month, to elect Josh Riley to the US House of Representatives.

The appeal of the Josh Riley for Congress campaign was that even if we could not stop Donald Trump from seizing the White House, we could at least elect a Democrat to stand up to Trump on our behalf and protect us from the worst fascist impulses of the MAGA movement.

Now as we are beginning to watch Josh Riley in action on Capitol Hill, an ominous question is beginning to form in the minds of Ithaca voters: Was Josh Riley a MAGA Democrat in disguise all along?

The Josh Riley Watch podcast is devoted to confronting the question of who Josh Riley really is. We’re not going to judge Josh Riley according to either our fears or our hopes, however.

We’re going to look at the facts.

Josh Riley Watch will track the significant legislative actions of Congressman Josh Riley, and share them with you. In contrast to Donald Trump’s chaotic vortex of political unreality, we are going to look at the facts of what Josh Riley does on the job.

Positive and negative, we will share what we find so that Ithaca voters can make up their own minds about what to do about Josh Riley in November 2026… presuming we’re lucky enough to have another Election Day.
