Josh Riley Hangs Out With Elon MusK Instead Of Defending Ithaca
Yesterday afternoon, Donald Trump announced that he will freeze one billion dollars of research funding for Cornell University and its students and professors, devastating the economy of Ithaca and New York’s 19th congressional district.
Congressman Josh Riley has had nothing to say about it.
Why?
Instead of defending Ithaca from Donald Trump’s latest attack, Josh Riley bragged about the passage in the US House of legislation that would (if passed in the Senate, signed into law by Donald Trump and not disregarded by the Trump Administration) require the Centers for Disease Control to launch an epidemiological study of the relationship between liver flukes and cancer in Vietnam veterans.
That legislation:
Was not written or introduced by Josh Riley. It was written and introduced seven years ago by Republican US Representative Lee Zeldin, who recently became the top administrator of the EPA. The bill was introduced this year by Republican Congressman Nick LaLota
Would not provide any treatment to Vietnam veterans suffering from cancer, who are now an average of 70 years old.
Would have to be administered by the CDC, which has suffered massive budget and staff cuts that have made much of the research it’s already doing nearly impossible to maintain.
Provides no money to fund the research.
No other legislation that Josh Riley has sponsored or co-sponsored has been passed on the floor of the US House of Representatives. Josh Riley’s “kitchen table issues” approach is not working.
So, where has Josh Riley been?
Josh Riley has been hanging out with Elon Musk on Musk’s pro-fascist social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter).
Congressman Riley has refused to join Bluesky the liberal social media alternative to X.
Many constituents have contacted Josh Riley and asked him to create an account on Bluesky, which takes less than 5 minutes to do.
86% of Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives are on Bluesky. Why is Josh Riley refusing to join them, and continuing to associate himself with Elon Musk?
